Apples – Proven To Help You Shed Fat and Aid Weight Loss
Apples are a great post workout carbohydrate due to it’s high fructose levels. Unlike glucose, which is metabolized in the body, fructose is metabolized pretty much completely in the liver, where it is directed toward replenishment of glycogen. It’s slowly release into the body because of it’s high fiber content.
According to research from the Nippon Sport Science University (Tokyo) and the University of Arts and Sciences (Saitama, Japan), Apples also contain a unique source of something called Polyphenols, which have shown increased strength output and musclar endrucance. So far, the apple is being recognized as a ‘fitness super-fruit’.
In the study conducted by The University of Arts and Sciences (Saitama, Japan) researchers gave 71 obese male and female subjects 600 mg of apple polyphenols or a placebo per day for 12 weeks.
The subjects were analysed for cholesterol, total cholesterol, body weight and abdominal fat. By the end of the study the researchers had found that those supplementing with apple polyphenols had dropped significantly more overall bf% and body weight, and had lower total cholesterol and cholesterol levels.
To increase your muscular strength and endurance, as well as get leaner and lower your cholesterol levels, there are actually apple polyphenols in capsule form, available here that might be useful to try.
We also recommend eating an apple pre/post workout with your protein shake, it’s the most effective way to increase performance and provide your with plenty of low-glycemic carbs and a ton of fiber.
